Mandiba

"Simba!" is a my favorite character from Lion King the musical because through growing pains and lessons learned while a coy cub, he matures into adulthood and emerges as the eventual King of the Jungle following his father's Musfasa's footsteps. I wanted to feature a quilt version of Simba gazing up to heaven acknowledging his father's ever present greatness. This interpretation of Simba uses my signature ink and thread painted portrait technique, coupled with a Seminole pattern blocked masked using the challenged fabrics, finally embellished with feathered Raffia at mask.
