What will 2011 bring?

2010 will soon be history; a New Year is fast approaching. It's amazing how time flies. The old saying "time waits for no one" is very true. It comes and it goes. Regarding 2010, I found myself the other day telling a friend that it was a bad year and that I couldn't WAIT for it to be over.   Well yes, in 2010 there were a few mishaps both here domestically as well as on a global scale that could made the toughest homeboys run for cover.  And yes, there were a couple of personal bumps that knocked me to my knees. But I did get up each time; brushed myself off like I always do and kept stepping.  This evening as I further reflect on the personal events of this past year, I concluded that overall it really wasn't that bad for me. After all I did have many artistic triumphs.  Had works published; pieces in galleries, both locally and travelling nationally making a further name for my myself. Those were great things!  I wonder why we tend to focus on the negative while minimize what's positive around us?  In 2010 I was certainly a master of this. Silly me, not the  desired trait of a true believer.  Enough! I've decided just at this moment that I'm not going to do that anymore. Don't have any time to waste dwelling on the negative.

I'm not sure what 2011 will bring us all.  It's certainly time for positive energy flowing for me and the world.  In the coming year, I will be open to learning more about the facinating world of fiber art, in particular stretching myself to learn new quilting techniques to use with my artwork. I'd like to continue to meet more dynamic artists to network with and of course make time for globe trotting!  In 2011 I have my eyes fixed on travelling to the Mediterranean, in particular Greece.  I'd like to see the isle of Santorini. I'm also ready to take in a city tour of Athens, as well as taking in the beauty of the city's ivory architectural structures with the glorious Mediterranean sea as a back drop.  I can see a couple fiber pieces easily inspired by this travel.  There's no time like now to start squiring away my pennies for a Fall 2011 travel time; Opa!  Living creatively, Sandra
