Gimme Shelter - revisited

I just got the "No Place to Call Home" exhibit quilt titled "Gimme Shelter" back from the SAQA Mancuso tour.  It was a honor to have a fiber art piece featured in this quilt exhibit curated by So Cal SAQA member Kathleen McCabe.  It's funny how you forget the intricacies of your own artwork when it goes away for sometime.  After getting it back home, I put the quilt on my design table and took a long look-see.  I didn't realize how much quilting I did on this piece until someone pointed out to me. I'm really proud that what I tried to convey in the theme's message of homelessness in Haiti after the devastating quake was quite apparent.  Many people suffered in the initial months and unfortunately still now.  Take another look at the mother and child forced to live their lives in a tent after being left homeless by the quake.  It's chilling...
