Mandiba's premier @ Textures Fiber Art Reception at the Merc

People have asks me "Where did you come up with the name of your latest quilt MANDIBA?   It's a play on the names of Nelson Mandela and Madiba.  Mr. Mandela is one of my lifetime heroes.  His courage in times of adversity and exemplar leadership was pivotal with the creation of the new South Africa.  Madiba is his Xhosa clan name and a term of endearment.  Prior to going to South Africa, I really admired Mr. Mandela; but after arriving there and seeing his intricate involvement in the unification process which give birth to the new South Africa, I knew that I needed to pay tribute to this great man in some tangible way.  So here's my tribute to Madiba, may God continue to bless him and us with his presence for years to come.  Until next time, living creatively, Santeena.
